Ann Fragrance Marks a New Chapter With Its New Atelier in Omotesando

Tokyo’s latest atelier for clean, custom scents

2025 marks a new chapter for Ann Fragrance as it opens the doors to its new atelier in the heart of Omotesando after three wonderful years in Harajuku. Best known for its unique, customizable fragrances and its “Belle Panacée” philosophy (beauty as a form of healing), the brand welcomes new guests into a space designed to draw you in and make the act of scent-making something truly personal.

The new atelier is located on the third floor of the Prosper Aoyama building. You’ll spot it by a soft red glow at the entrance, a subtle invitation to step away from the buzz of Omotesando. Inside, the atmosphere is cinematic and calming—with rich navy carpets, soft pink accents, and a luminous booth where you can interact with the fragrance specialists.

Ann’s signature scent-blending sessions are the heart of the experience. For each session, you can choose up to five notes from a carefully curated lineup of 37 fragrances. These range from floral and fruity to herbal and earthy, giving you the options to explore different combinations and discover what feels right. Our personal favorites are No Gender (No. 20), which offers a balanced, clean scent that works well for anyone, and Rose (No. 29), a modern take on a classic floral that’s soft yet distinctive.

You don’t need any prior knowledge about perfume to get started. Ann’s fragrance specialists will guide you through each step, answer your questions, and help you create a well-balanced scent that suits your preferences. Communication is in Japanese, but English-speaking staff can assist you upon request. Then, you’ll walk through the dome of 37 carefully selected scents, sampling as you go. A scent card is provided so you can mark the ones that stand out to you. Along the way, the specialists will explain the different fragrance notes: top, middle, and base—and how they interact, making it easier for you to craft a blend that feels just right.

After you've selected your favorite notes, a perfumer will work with you to mix your chosen scents. They’ll blend the ingredients one by one, letting you sample each version and make adjustments until you find the combination that feels just right. You can also choose the color of your perfume—pink, clear, yellow, orange, violet, blue, or green—and give it a name, adding a personal touch to the final product. While you can select up to five notes, you're not required to use them all. A simpler blend of just two or three can create the scent you’re looking for.

Once your custom fragrance is finalized, it will be packaged in a pouch bag and accompanied by a booklet that includes information about the notes you selected and your unique combination. The final product is formulated exclusively for fabric use, so it's perfect for freshening up bedsheets, clothing, or other textiles. While it’s long-lasting and gentle on fabric, it’s not intended for direct application to the skin.

To secure your spot and ensure a personalized experience, reservation is required. You can book easily online at annfragrance.com/en. Each session is priced at ¥4,950, and it already includes a 50ml bottle of your selected or custom-blended fragrance, and takes approximately 50 minutes from start to finish.

If you’d rather skip the blending session, a curated range of single-note fragrances is also available. These are hand-blended in Japan with the same care and quality as the custom blends, making them a great choice for those short on time or looking to explore different notes before committing to a personalized session. They’re ideal as gifts, everyday spritzes, or introductions to the fragrance line.
