The Tokushima Awaodori Airport (airport code TKS) offers several regular domestic routes to travelers, including flights to Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Fukuoka Airport. There are also seasonal routes to Sapporo in Hokkaido and to Hong Kong. Interestingly, this airport isn't just used for civilian flights, but also for military purposes - the Japan Self Defense Force have one of their naval air training squadrons operating from here.
The airport has various retail stores and restaurants to choose from - for a smaller regional airport the number of restaurants is quite impressive. Many of them also shine a light on the prefecture's foodie specialties, such as the 4PARK Cafe which serves a range of drinks and desserts using locally grown citrus fruits, and Shunseki Tamatsubaki, a full-service Japanese restaurant that bases their menu around what's in season across the prefecture. There's also the Rich Burger Factory - their aptly named "Tokushima Burger" won the Tokushima Burger Grand Prix, and came in 8th place in the National Regional Burger Competition. The retail stores also have plenty of tasty regional delicacies to take home with you - a popular one with visitors is kincho manju, a type of sweet treat that has a chocolate flavored outer, with smooth white bean paste inside.
For those planning to continue their journey in Tokushima via rental vehicle, there is a car rental counter on the first floor. You'll also find a tourist information center there if you need any information about what there is to see and do in the region.
