Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was one of the most influential figures in Western art history, leaving behind a legacy of color, emotional intensity, and a unique view of the world. His works continue to inspire audiences around the globe, and Tochigi is the next destination in a traveling exhibition that reimagines his masterpieces for the digital age.

Running from June 28th to September 7th at the Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Art in Utsunomiya, this unique digital fine art exhibition brings Van Gogh’s paintings to life through immersive video and advanced projection technology. More than just a gallery show, the experience transforms the artist's iconic brushwork into "moving paintings," visually guided by Van Gogh’s own words.

Having already drawn crowds across other cities in Japan, the Tochigi edition marks the first unveiling of newly updated visuals, offering fresh insight into the emotional depth and brilliance of Van Gogh’s work. From “The Starry Night” to “Sunflowers,” audiences can expect a vibrant, cinematic journey into the world of a tormented genius whose vision shaped modern art.

Adult admission is priced at 1250 JPY. If you are planning to attend, please note that the museum closed on Mondays (except July 21st and August 11th) as well as July 22nd and August 12th.
