Mishima Taisha

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a historical shrine

About ten minutes' walk from Mishima station, Mishima Taisha is the town's largest and most important shrine. Between the main gate and inner gate there's a peaceful pond surrounded by shady trees, the compound is home to the main hall and a 1200-year-old osmanthus tree, and there's also a deer enclosure, a small museum of historical objects, and shops selling buddhist items, souvenirs and snacks.

Getting there

The shrine is ten minutes' walk or so south-east from Mishima station.
