Tokinosumika, aka Gotemba Kogen, is a family friendly resort in the Gotemba area of Shizuoka. There are parts of it that are lit up at night all year round and they have summer illumination too, but their winter illumination is the main light up event annually.
The winter illumination starts at the end of October and runs until the middle of March. The main area is the straight walkway that runs from the restaurant area to the self catering accommodation yurts and lodges. It is transformed into a tunnel of light during winter. The second main area is the hill where the playground and Bell of Love is. The Sakura chapel is also lit up and you will find many installations dotted around the resort.
Getting there
By public transport
Tokinosumika has its own private bus that runs between the station and the resort. There is also an infrequent public bus that stops near the resort.
By car
The nearest highway exits are the Gotemba Junction and Susuno Interchange of the Tomei expressway. The Gotemba exit can be very busy so I have found it easier and quicker to continue on to Susuno Interchange and back track from there to the resort.
