Nabe, a traditional Japanese hot pot dish, is the perfect cold weather food. The variety of ingredients, from thinly sliced meats to seasonal veggies, provides a rich and comforting dining experience. Additionally, the customizable nature of nabe means it can be tailored to individual preferences, making it a versatile choice when the temps get chilly.

If you're a nabe fan or you're looking to try it for the first time, be sure to check out the Kawaguchi Nabe Festival. Held at Cupo La Plaza in front of Kawaguchi Station, the event is set to include nabe types from Tohoku to Kyushu and many places in between. There will also be some international hot pot dishes served!

If the warming eats on offer weren't enough, there will also be sparkling illuminations to enjoy as part of the Kawaguchi Light Fantasy event.

If you plan to visit, please note that the event hours differ on each day:

  • December 1st: 17:00 - 20:00
  • December 2nd: 10:00 - 20:00
  • December 3rd: 10:00 - 17:00

Enjoying the festival's atmosphere is free of charge, but bring yen if you want to do some food sampling.

Getting there

Cupo La Plaza is located right in front of Kawaguchi Station, which is served by the JR Keihin-Tōhoku Line.
