The Hydrangea Festival takes place for 3 weeks during the month of June each year at Mikaeri Falls, one of Japan's top 100. This rural location on the outskirts of Karatsu in Saga is perhaps best enjoyed at this time, during Japan's rainy season. The colorful umbrellas and rain gear of the guests matched with the lush valley and gardens below the falls enhance any damp, grey day in a mystical, magical sort of way.
