Visitors to Expo 2025 in Osaka have the opportunity to experience the premium quality of Australian beef and lamb through free tastings at the Australian Pavilion, available on select days from May to September.
Australia is recognized globally for its high standards in meat production, with a strong focus on animal welfare, sustainability, and traceability. Its grass-fed beef and tender lamb are prized by chefs and home cooks alike for their flavor and consistency, and for Japan, Australian meat is not just a culinary staple but a key element of a long-standing trade relationship. In fact, 2025 marks the 55th anniversary of chilled Australian beef first being imported into Japan, a milestone that highlights decades of trust and cooperation between the two nations.
At the Expo, Meat & Livestock Australia is hosting tasting events alongside live cooking demonstrations by official ambassadors, offering visitors a hands-on introduction to the versatility of Australian red meat. Each month features a different dish inspired by Japanese tastes, including lamb kushikatsu in July and Osaka-style lamb yakisoba in September. Tastings are held twice per demo day, at 11:30 and 17:30.
This event is more than a food sampling, serving as a celebration of cross-cultural exchange, sustainability, and shared values. As Australia continues to play a key role in feeding Japan’s appetite for safe, high-quality meat, the Expo is the perfect place to explore the story behind the flavor.
