I spent my last night in Naha at this great hotel placed just by the canal in the central area of Kumoji, not far from Kokusai Dori. I chose this hotel mainly for its convenient location, as it is just 15 minutes away from the airport by Yui Rail or by car. Moreover its central location makes this hotel a great base for both sightseeing and other activities.
The hotel is also just a couple of minutes walk from the multistory department store Ryubo, where you can find almost everything you need: a big variety of shops, restaurants and coffee shops. A particularly nice find was the Blue Seal ice cream shop just around the corner from the Ryubo main building. You have a great choice of American ice cream flavors; however, you can also enjoy traditional Okinawan local tastes, too. Amongst the ones that caught my attention immediately there was Okinawan sweet potato, Okinawan salt cookies, Ryukyu Royal milk tea, beni-imo (purple sweet potato) and ube (Dioscorea alata, also known as purple yam).
For dinner you can try any of the izakayas around the hotel; a few of them are even on the same street. They are all great and the food is fantastic and cheap. I had a wonderful ramen in one of them—just delicious!
I spent the night in a single B guestroom featuring a semi-double very comfy bed. It was actually a nice large room which would surely be fine for two people, too. It was perfect for having a peaceful and restful sleep after almost two months of traveling around Japan. Free internet access via LAN connection was also available in the room.
Every morning from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. a home-cooked buffet-style breakfast was served in the hotel. The food was really fresh and very tasty. For me it was perfect; it gives you all you need to start a new day with full of energy.
As almost everywhere in Japan the staff was very friendly and attentive. They were always trying to make my stay a remarkable experience. They just make you feel like a special guest.
