Looking for something fun and different to do in Okinawa? Check out the Pacific Okinawa Players’ production of Something’s Afoot. Pacific Okinawa Players is an all-volunteer theatre group in Okinawa that produces shows for the community. On average, POPS puts on about four shows a year. Many shows are family friendly and reasonably priced. They even have dinner theatre!

Starting in March, POPS will begin their performances of Something’s Afoot, a wonderful British comedy with the book, music, and lyrics by James McDonald, David Vos & Robert Gerlach. The play pokes fun at the murder mystery style of Agatha Christie. In the show, characters are knocked off one by one leaving the audience to figure out “who did it?” This fun and whimsical play was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Musical in London. The POPS casts consists of ten actors: Miss Tweed: Christine Smith, Hope Langdon: Morgan England, Nigel Rancour: Kelly Dolan, Dr. Grayburn: Glen Mitchell, Col. Gillweather: Randy Pickens, Geoffrey: Pojo Reigert, Lady Grace Manley-Prowe: Hillary Scales-Lewis, Clive: John Smith, Flint: Josh Bales, Lettie: Becky Thomas.

The production team consists of: Director: Mark Honnald, Musical Director: Melanie Bales, Stage Manager: Krista Hurley, and Dance/Fight Choreographer: Amy Pastoor, Producer: Kelly Dolan, Light Design: Veronica Davis, Sound Design & Tech: James Shandy, Light Tech: Hunter Miller, Prop Carpenter: Steve Thomas, Prop Mistress: Anne Rogers, Carpenters: Mark Honnold & Randall Pickens, Stage Hands: Antoinette Mitchell, Ben LaCount, Alycia Desiderio, Amber McCully, and Camille Robinson.

The orchestra consists of: Keyboard: Melanie Bales & Victor Iannelli, Trombone: Jesse Sylvester, Trumpet: Victor Boyda, Clarinet/Bass Clarinet/Tenor Sax: Daniel Kennett, Clarinet/Alto Sax: Charles Burnside, Flute/Piccolo: Karina Bloom, Percussion: Cherie Cheramie & Mark Gulotta, Bass: Steve Frigiola
