If you're traveling in a group and trying to find a spot to eat, it's likely that there may be some dietary requirements or requests to cater to. If that's the case for you and there are vegetarians or vegans in your party, places like Esparza's Tacos and Coffee are incredibly convenient. Catering to vegans and non-vegans alike, this gem of a restaurant in Okinawa's Chatan area ensures no one goes without their taco fix.

For the carnivores, there are chicken tacos, carnitas (slow cooked shredded pork) tacos, steak tacos, fish tacos served with shikuwasa (a type of citrus fruit native to Okinawa), and chicken enchiladas to choose from. As for the vegans, there are an impressive number of options available. Some of the vegan-friendly taco choices include the Two Bean Heaven, the Very Vegan (fire roasted vegetables, chili tomato jam, and vegan cheese), and the Chunky Chorizo (which uses tofu with chorizo seasoning). They also have vegan enchiladas available which incorporate jackfruit in place of the usual chicken varieties.

One really helpful feature that the restaurant implemented recently was the addition of a parking lot order and delivery system. You simply pull up in the lot, place your order by phone (there's a large menu board with your food options and the number to call), and when your order is ready a staff member will bring it out to your car. Super handy if you're local and would like to enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own home.

Getting there

Esparza's Tacos and Coffee is located in Chatan, right by the American Village. It's only a couple of minutes drive from Gate 1 of the Kadena Air Base. If you're visiting from further afield, take the Okinawa-Minami Interchange from the Okinawa Expressway, and the restaurant is around a ten minute drive away.
