Cafe Gallery Doka Doka is an Okinawan Yachimun (pottery) gallery and cafe restaurant in Onna. There are quite a few seaside cafes in Okinawa, but Doka Doka is unique in its combination of handmade pottery, tasty food and a magnificent view of the Onna coast. Situated on a hill in Onna (central Northwest Okinawa), the cafe is in a beautiful airy building in an area known for its clear water beaches and resort hotels. The building is decorated with handmade pottery works and the feel is rustic yet traditional and local to Okinawa. Yachimun pottery can be purchased in the gallery in the front of the store and there are even pottery classes for visitors. Indoor seating is at tables with an open window view of the sea. There is limited seating on the outdoor patio, but it is worth the short wait to have an outdoor meal and take in the views of the beautiful blue waters of the nearby ocean.
The breakfast menu has a limited order and may sell out. Breakfast fare is hearty and the portions are generous. Options include egg sandwiches, pizza toast or ogura toast. Sides that accompany the main dish include salad and grilled sausages. The cafe lunch menu includes excellent pizzas as well as rice dishes such as taco rice or keema curry. Desserts include cheesecake and mango sorbet. Drinks include coffee, tea and various fruit juices including mango and Shikuwasa (Okinawan citrus). Prices are fair with most breakfast and lunch sets all less than 2000 yen. A la carte dishes without drink are less than 800 yen on average.
Doka Doka is open for breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and lunch/early dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. Take a break from the beaches to have a relaxing meal with a view at Cafe Doka Doka.
