The Hakuba area of Nagano is known for being one of Japan's best winter sports destinations, but there is plenty to do in the region during green season, too. The Hakuba Yoo Hoo Festival is one such event, and it takes place at the Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort towards the end of May.
The festival includes a wide array of activities including hands-on craft workshops, mountain bike rentals that can be used on a new downhill course, local produce for sale, and live music performances on the last two evenings of the event.
Gondola lift tickets to the event area are priced at ¥ 2,400 for adults, and ¥1,300 for children, and some of the activities have a participation fee. In addition, the music events for the last two evenings require bookings, which can be arranged online via several websites including Lawson Ticket.
Getting there
Shuttle bus services will be available from to Hakuba Station to the Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort. In addition, limited express bus services run from JR Nagano Station's East Exit to the venue.
For those who opt to drive, on-site parking is available at a cost of ¥ 1000 per vehicle, per day.
