Nijo-jo Castle in autumn is not vibrant with reds and oranges and purples like many other well-known Kyoto temples and gardens. The colors here (lots of yellows) are quieter, and softer, and easy on the eye. Since the grounds are massive (275,000 square meters), you can stroll for hours, enjoying the fresh, clean air. Obviously, a lot of time and energy goes into the care of the various groves and gardens and lawns.
