Founded in 888, Ninna-ji Temple is one of the most important temples in Kyoto, being part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Located in the west part of Kyoto, most of the present buildings date from the restoration that took place in the 17th century, after the temple was destroyed by a fire during the Onin War in the 15th century.
Occupying quite a large area and with easy access, this is definitely a not-to-miss attraction in Kyoto!
