Yuzen is a type of Japanese dyeing technique which involves the application of rice paste to fabric in order to prevent color transfer.

From October 13th until December 6th 2020 at Kyoto's National Museum of Modern Art, a special exhibition will be taking place centered around this unique practice, titled "Moriguchi Kunihiko: Yuzen / Design – Crossroads of Creativity".

The exhibit focuses on the works of Kunihiko Moriguchi, a textile artist and Living National Treasure who specializes in the yuzen technique. Moriguchi has managed to thread yuzen into various realms, from kimono production through to creating shopping bags for the Mitsukoshi department store.
