On a cold March day in 2012, I decided to head to Kyoto again to visit one of my favorite temple complexes: Kiyomizu-dera. After a short ride on the Hankyu line I found myself in the bustling center of Kyoto, near Kawaramachi station. From there it is only a short, straight walk to Kiyomizu-dera. Despite being too early for the cherry blossom season (when you can take breathtaking pictures of the main hall bathing in a sea of pink flowers) I still was able to take some nice scenery shots. The darker winter colors in the surroundings contrasted nicely with the clear blue cold spring sky!
