Enjoy an enlightening cruise in Yokosuka. During this 45-minute cruise, you can learn a whole lot about the American Navy and the Maritime Self-Defense Force.
You will board a two-story ship named “Sea friend 1”. The lower deck is equipped with benches, air-conditioning, a screen displaying your present location and the route of the cruise, and a bathroom. The upper-deck is only equipped with benches, but since there aren’t any windows, it would be ideal to take pictures on the upper deck. During the cruise, the tour guide will explain each and every one of the vessels you come across by. By the end of the cruise, you will be familiar with its characteristics and features. The guide will also lecture you about the history of the Yokosuka Naval Port and the layout of Yokosuka Base.
Tickets are available at the Shiori Terminal; it is located on the left-hand side of Ieon Shopper’s Plaza. This terminal provides an array of souvenirs and snacks. They take pride in their curry bread, it is the pastry that received first place in the First Japan Pastry Festival! They also have other unique souvenirs for sale: different flavors of curry in a can, Yokosuka rice crackers, ballpoint pens in the shape of submarines, tiny pullback cars in the shape of a ship, Navy beer, and Maritime pin badges. There is also a place for visitors to relax whilst you wait for the next boarding time, so it is a convenient terminal.
They work 7 days a week, so you can visit and attend the cruise anyday! The first available cruise starts at 11:00 on weekdays and 10:00 on weekends. The last available cruise starts at 15:00.
