One of Yugawara’s most famous and beautiful landmarks is Makuyama Park. The park features a river, boulders, wide open space, a mountain, and—covering the base of the mountain—thousands and thousands of plum trees (and a festival) that when in full bloom in February and March have to be seen to be believed.
The blooming of plum blossoms signals the coming of spring-surely an event to celebrate! Take the bus bound for Kajiya at Yugawara Station on the JR Tokaido Line and get off at Morishitakoen-mae. It is a short walk from there.
