Isshiki Beach in Hayama is my newfound love for the summer. It may not have the crystal clear waters or swaying palm trees we all envision and have saved to our computer desktop backgrounds. But what it does offer is a sense of calmness, serenity and security that other beaches in the area may not live up to. The perfect fit for young families or those longing for a “me” day, Isshiki Beach is known for swimming, windsurfing, kayaking, sun bathing and its popular beach house named, "Blue Moon." It is not only famous for being picked as No. 65 on CNN’s World’s Best 100 Beaches in 2014, it is also the beautiful beach that sits just in front of the Emperor’s Summer Palace – a one-of-a-kind setting!
Getting there
To access Isshiki Beach Hayama, JR line to Zushi or Keikyu Line to Shin Zushi. Take any bus that terminates at Hayama and get off at the “Ishiki Kaigan” stop (written as:一色海岸). 3 minute walk. By car, take Yokohama-Yokosuka Toll Road, exit Zushi and onto the Zushi Hayama New Road. At the end of the road, turn right at the traffic light. Drive 300m further up the road and it’s on the left.
