Fudo Myo-o & His Flunkies at Jojuin

<p>One of Fudo Myo-o's attendants, Kongara-doji. He is supposed to be around 15 years old but he looks more mature.</p>

<p>The other attendant, Seitaka-doji. There are many statues of Seitaka-doji around the world and some look formidable, but this one looks more like a serene Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) statue.</p>

When I visited Jojuin Temple in Kamakura in late February, I found that its principal image is Fudo Myo-o, which is an Esoteric Buddhist deity worshipped widely in Japan. Esoteric Buddhism is said to have been imported to Japan by Kobo-daishi (Kukai). Considering the fact that he trained himself for 100 days reciting a mantra 1,000,000 times at this temple, it's no wonder they worship Fudo Myo-o here. A particular Fudo Myo-o in this temple is said to ensure successful love relationships in your life, and people frequent here as a power spot to help them find their better halves. Believe it or not, you may be able to find a romantic partner if you visit this temple!
