Yokohama's waterfront is getting a Detective Conan makeover this November, when the city's night sky will become the backdrop for a spectacular celebration of the beloved anime series. The Detective Conan TV Anime 30th Anniversary: Artistic Fireworks will bring its music, characters, and story to life through a choreographed fireworks display at Yamashita Pier.
Taking place on Saturday, November 21, the event will combine fireworks with music from across the long-running series. Opening themes, ending themes, background music, and other familiar songs will provide the soundtrack as fireworks light up the sky against the backdrop of Yokohama.
The event is particularly fitting for the city, which features prominently in this year's Detective Conan movie, “Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway.” Characters from the anime and theatrical films are also scheduled to make voice appearances during the event.
The fireworks will be produced in collaboration with the team behind the nationwide Artistic Fireworks series. Displays are programmed down to 1/30th of a second, with details such as the duration each firework remains in the sky and its afterglow carefully choreographed to the music.
Doors open at 1pm, with the performance beginning at 5pm. Tickets range from 8,900 JPY for S seats to 14,500 JPY for premium front-row seats with merchandise. Preschool children can enter for free, although a ticket is required if they need their own seat. Exclusive Detective Conan merchandise will also be available at the venue.
Official ticket presales began September 5, with general sales scheduled to start in mid-October. The event will proceed in rain unless severe weather forces its cancellation.
