A Day at Enoshima Aquarium

Fun for everyone with jellyfish, penguins and dolphins

<p>Once you are in you can take a photo with fishes which they will print and give you right away as a keepsake for the aquarium visit. </p>

<p>The fish are as eager to see humans as much as we are eager and interested to see them. </p>

<p>There's many different fish living together including manta rays and sharks in the same tank. </p>

<p>This is the information board after you enter the aquarium, you can find details on the times of the different shows as well as brochures with more information about the aquarium. </p>

<p>The underwater plants have wonderful shapes and colors. </p>

<p>There is an area where the fishes actually swim above you so you can see them from a 3D perspective including their undersides. </p>

<p>The aquarium is very busy even on a weekday and due to summer vacation many people bring their children to see the fish. </p>

<p>Some fish like to relax alone while others can only live if they are surround by their own kind so they form a huge shape made entirely of different fish all swimming the same way in unison. </p>

<p>There;s also many beautiful and colorful jellyfish in the aquarium as well. </p>

<p>At different times during the day there is a penguin exhibit and show going explaining how the penguins live and what their day to day activities are. </p>

<p>Outside the aquarium you can see many different types of turtles, just make sure not to try to touch them as they will bite you. </p>

<p>The turtles are also in separate tanks and they have different colors and sizes. </p>

<p>The aquarium also has a covered outdoor stage area where there are dolphin shows every few hour, make sure you come early to get a sit. </p>

<p>Before the dolphins come to do their acts there's a few minutes in which different seals do tricks and engage with the human trainers live. </p>

<p>Lastly you can see some underwater submarines as well as other marine technology machines and tools used in the exploration of the oceans. </p>

The Enoshima Aquarium near Kamakura (website in Japanese, but English pdf available for download) is a great place for adults and children alike.

The price for adult admission is ¥2100 and about half that for children.

There's many wondrous ocean creatures to be seen including dolphins, seals, jellyfish, penguins and other fish. You can also see the penguin's life show as well as a dolphin show a few times daily.

The gift shop has many different souvenirs for purchase to remind you of your visit.

I recommend everyone to take the time and enjoy the aquarium, expect to spend half a day surrounded by fascinating creatures.
