About Shodoshima Island

Shodoshima Island is known for its olive plantations and soy sauce and has so much to offer.

The island can be reached via ferry from Takamatsu but also from the more popular Himeji or Okayama - so it is perfect for a day trip. You can explore so many things on Shodoshima: a monkey park with wild monkeys, beautiful beaches, interesting art installations, a huge olive park with a greek windmill and terraced rice fields. There is also a movie village related to the popular 1954 movie "24 Eyes" - even if you have not seen the film adaptations, you will feel set back into the old times and explore the village like a time traveler. You can enter an old school building, enjoy a perfect sea panorama and eat soy sauce ice cream before you explore the other wonders of the island. If you want to take a closer look, just rent an e-bike and see for yourself what Shodoshima has to offer.
