Venue : Ritsurin Garden When : Late Nov - Early Dec 2025

Kagawa's Ritsurin Garden is considered one of Japan's best gardens for several reasons, including its scenic beauty and historical significance. Set against the backdrop of Mount Shiun, the garden features several ponds, beautifully landscaped hills, and thousands of trees to appreciate.

That last point – the plethora of trees on the grounds – is a great reason to visit the garden during the fall season when the leaves change colors. To celebrate the stunning foliage an autumn illumination event will be held for 10 days, allowing visitors to enjoy a picturesque after-dark stroll. Along with the illuminated leaves, the event will include a variety of additional activities and events which are outlined below.

Reservations need to be made ahead of time via this website, and an additional fee applies – adults are priced at 620 JPY, and children (elementary and junior high school students) are priced at 310 JPY.
