Fans of Pikachu, Slowpoke, and the rest of the Pokémon world will soon have a new destination in Shikoku. On Friday, October 24th, Pokémon Center Kagawa will officially open its doors in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, bringing the beloved franchise to one of Japan’s best-known udon hubs.
Located on the first floor of Marugamemachi Green, the new store promises more than just shopping. Visitors will be welcomed by life-sized figures of Pikachu and Slowpoke—one even holding a bowl of udon as a nod to Kagawa's famous noodle culture—making it a must-stop photo spot for travelers. Beyond shelves of plush toys, apparel, and collectibles, Pokémon Center Kagawa will feature the first Pokémon Card Station in Shikoku, offering space for card battles and learn-to-play events.

To celebrate the grand opening, exclusive merchandise inspired by Kagawa's culture will be available. Look out for plush Pikachu clutching udon bowls, Slowpoke-themed tableware, and locally crafted goods like Sanuki paper lanterns and Marugame bamboo fans, all adorned with Pokémon designs. These unique items make for memorable souvenirs blending local tradition with global pop culture.

Special campaigns will also run nationwide, including giveaways of a commemorative Slowpoke for Pokémon game players and limited-edition stickers. During the opening weekend, expect celebratory visits from costumed Pikachu and Slowpoke, who will even don raincoats on wet days.
