Running for over three decades, the Tone River Fireworks Festival is a 90 minute extravaganza of light and sound in Ibaraki Prefecture. The 2022 event will include four of the country's top pyrotechnics companies (Yamazaki Fireworks Factory, Nomura Fireworks Industry, Beniya Aoki Fireworks Shop, and Margaux), who have won a variety of awards for their impressive fireworks displays.
An incredible 30,000 fireworks will be launched during the hour and a half long show.
Getting there
Sakai Riverside Park can be accessed via bus from either JR Koga Station or the Tobu Railway's Tobu Dobutsuen Station.
For those who opt to drive, the venue is approximately 10 minutes from the Ken-O Expressway's Sakai Koga IC. Parking will be available at the venue for up to 500 vehicles, but do note that it is charged at ¥3000 for this event.
