Hokkaido is known for having some great flower events throughout the year, and if you love sunflowers then be sure to stop by Palette Hill in autumn. Located just under a 20 minute drive from Sapporo's New Chitose Airport, the best time to visit is around late September through until early October, which is significantly later than many sunflower spots in other parts of the country.
Unlike some other sunflower events, visitors are unable to actually enter the fields here, so it's strictly about enjoying the beauty from a distance. However, for the spectacular views and the vast number of flowers on display, it's still well worth a visit if you're in the area.
