TeamLab’s latest permanent exhibition, “Infinite Life Proliferating on the Ruins of a Church – A Whole Year per Year,” opens on May 2nd at the newly reopened J Art Foundation in Sapporo. After seven years of closure and renovations, the former Sapporo Miyanomori Art Museum has returned with a new name and renewed focus on digital and contemporary art.

This exhibit continues TeamLab’s exploration of how art interacts with space, nature, and human presence. Flowers bloom and fade according to the real seasons, forming a cycle of growth and decay. As visitors move through the space and touch the flowers, they respond by falling and disappearing. The work uses TeamLab’s concept of “ultrasubjective space,” where the projection surface is not a boundary, but a continuation of the viewer’s surroundings, and visitors become part of the visual environment.

The installation is presented on a rotational basis to control crowding and maintain the immersive effect, and tickets must be reserved online in advance for a specific date and time. Admission is priced at 2,000 JPY for adults, with reduced prices for students and children. Preschoolers receive free admission, but please note that they still require a reservation.
This exhibition is part of the museum’s effort to position itself as an accessible venue for digital and contemporary art in northern Japan. For travelers visiting Hokkaido, it offers a focused and structured way to experience TeamLab’s work without the large-scale crowds of some other venues. More details are available via the TeamLab website, and to arrange tickets please visit the dedicated site here.
