Gallery Hana

A tiny little corner gallery in Shimokitazawa, Gallery Hana features the contemporary works of up and coming artists. Regular exhibitions keep this creative hub in action throughout the year. Gotoh Museum

Displaying the collected works of Gotoh Keita, the Gotoh Museum houses over 5,000 pieces in its collection. The museum's most famous piece is The Tale of Genji, a Heian period illustrated scroll available for viewing in early May. With six or seven exhibitions each year, the JPY1000 admission fee reflects its quality.

Setagaya Art Museum

There are some 16,000 items in the the permanent collection of the Setagaya Art Museum. With its outdoor sculptures and statues, the museum is a fascinating place to visit. Setagaya Literary Museum

Featuring handwritten manuscripts and correspondence, including letters from Leo Tolstoy, the collection of the Setagaya Art Museum includes over 100,000 pieces of writing interest. Exhibitions are held throughout the year making this unique three-storey museum and its easy JPY200 admission fee a worthwhile visit.
