When you think of dining out in Tokyo, you may have visions of ultra-fresh sushi, piping hot bowls of ramen, or crisp tempura and chewy soba noodles. All of those things are available in abundance, of course, but there are also some pretty fantastic spots to enjoy a slice of pizza or several. This guide covers some of the city's best pizza spots that are worth a visit when the craving strikes.

Savoy

With a solid 4.5 star rating from over 1100 Google reviews, Savoy in Azabujuban is praised for its authenticity and wallet-friendly nature. With those aforementioned reviews stating things like "the Japanese obsession towards perfection is best displayed with this pizza" and "this place outshines every other pizza in Tokyo", you know you're onto something good. The lunch sets are fantastic value for money, with pizza, salad and tea for the very reasonable price of ¥1000.

PST

PST stands for Pizza Studio Tamaki, and the traditional wood-fire oven pizzas served up here have gained acclaim for their flavorful taste and freshness of the ingredients used. Devilcraft

If Chicago-style deep dish pizza is more your style, Tokyo has options in that regard, too. Devilcraft has several branches in the city, and they serve up several different deep dish pizza options including the DevilWorks (this author's personal favorite!) and the Meatzza. Pizza Salvatore Cuomo

Located around 10 minutes on foot from JR Yoyogi Station, Pizza Salvatore Cuomo is the brainchild of the Italian-Japanese celebrity chef of the same name. The restaurant has a variety of pizzas available on their menu, including their famous D.O.C pizza which won awards at the World Pizza Championships in Naples for several years running in the 2000s.

Seirinkan

Seirinkan is another of Tokyo's top-rated pizza spots, but what differentiates it from many other places is that they have just two types of them on the menu – a Margherita (tomato, basil, and mozzarella) and a marinara (tomato, garlic, and oregano). They also serve up a variety of antipasto dishes and pasta, plus affogato and tiramisu if you're craving something sweet.
