Mont Deus Ski Park in Takayama is a family-friendly ski destination offering wide, beginner-friendly slopes with excellent visibility. Typically operating from late December until early March each year, It’s ideal for first-time skiers, snowboarders, and those with young children.

The resort provides convenient rental packages that include lift tickets and full ski or snowboard gear, making it easy to enjoy the slopes without needing to bring along your own equipment. The Lodge restaurant offers a variety of hearty dishes for refueling, including the likes of katsudon, curry, yakisoba, ramen, and fried chicken. There is also a ski school for anyone wanting to improve their skills under the guidance of expert instructors.

For families visiting with young children, the cozy kids' area inside the center house features inflatable play equipment, trampolines, a small library, and a theater, ensuring plenty of fun off the slopes as well.

Visitors can also take advantage of the quad lift to enjoy panoramic views of the Hida Mountains. The lift can be used for both ascending and descending, and the Kuraiyama hiking trail also provides access to scenic viewpoints.

During the winter season you can keep up to date on the weather and slope conditions via the Mont Deus YouTube account's live camera feed.

Getting there

Mont Deus Ski Park is located around 25 minutes by taxi from Takayama Station, which is served by the JR Takayama Line.

For those who opt to drive, plentiful on-site parking is available—including the ability to park larger-sized buses. The official site also notes that visitors are welcome to sleep in their vehicles at the parking lot, for those planning multi-day ski trips.
