Walking down the main road in Daimyo I stumbled upon a gem of a record shop. I was on my way to Tenjin Station but after seeing the pink sign on the pavement my curiosity got the better of me. Lured by my inquisitiveness up to the third floor I found one of the best record stores I have seen in Japan so far. This store goes by the name of 70s Records and it specialises in punk and old school rock.

The vinyl records are organised in an impeccable manner and line the walls of the small shop. There is a huge variety of records starting off with the artists who laid the foundation for punk rock such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges. You can expect to find a large variety of records from bands well within the punk rock genre such as The Misfits, The Clash and The Ramones.

Apart from the immaculate record display there is a nice little bookshelf with band biographies though most of the books are in Japanese. On the other side of the shop is where you find some great merchandise such as t-shirts and hoodies brandished with the logos of well-known bands. You can find some hair gel to keep that mohawk in place as well as some badges of your favourite bands for your leather jacket.

This store also supports the local punk rock scene and helps to distribute flyers for upcoming shows. This is great if you are new to the area and looking for some place to hear live music. There is a selection of Japanese punk rock records and even more specifically, Kyushu punk rock. This store is also online where you can also purchase records or check out what they have in stock. The staff are super friendly too. I had a half-Japanese, half-body language conversation with the lady at the till. I bet if I could speak Japanese it would have been a lot more informative. If you are ever in the area and interested in this sort of thing I would recommend you check it out.
