Nintendo has long been one of Japan’s most beloved exports, with characters like Mario, Zelda, and Pikachu becoming cultural icons recognized around the world. The company's influence spans generations and borders, attracting fans of all ages and playing a massive role in the global gaming landscape for decades.
In Japan, the brand is not just a household name but a cultural cornerstone. And now, fans in southern Japan will have another reason to celebrate, with Nintendo announcing that a new official store in Fukuoka is scheduled to open at the end of 2025. This will be only the fourth directly managed Nintendo store in the country, following on from locations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

The new Fukuoka branch will be housed inside AMU Plaza Hakata, part of the JR Hakata City complex that connects to the bustling JR Hakata Station. Much like its sister stores, Nintendo Fukuoka will sell consoles, software, and a wide array of character-themed goods featuring icons from popular game franchises. Visitors can also look forward to hands-on game experience sessions and in-store events, making it more than just a place to shop.
While exact details about the store’s layout and opening-day plans are still under wraps, the announcement marks a major step in bringing more immersive gaming experiences to fans outside of Japan’s "big three" cities. For Fukuoka locals and travelers alike, the store is likely to become a popular stop for both longtime fans and new players discovering Nintendo for the first time.
