Held annually since 1988, the Kurume City Furusato Mizuma Festival showcases the best of wholesome hometown fun. The event includes music and dance performances, booths selling locally produced food and drink, and a variety of hands-on workshops to take part in.
One of the highlights is set to be the yosakoi competition, a traditional type of Japanese dance that often takes place at festivals. 30 yosakoi dance teams from all corners of Kyushu will be at the event, featuring a variety of colorful costumes and choreographed moves.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the atmosphere of the event, but bring yen if you plan on making food or drink purchases.
Getting there
The event takes place at the Minumanosato 2000 Nen Kinen no Mori Park, which can be accessed in just two minutes on foot from Inuzuka Station (Tenjin Ōmuta Line).
For those who opt to drive, the park is around 20 minutes from Hirokawa IC on the Kyushu Expressway. On-site parking is available for around 280 vehicles.
