Yokokan Garden in Fukui is a traditional, beautiful, yet compact Japanese garden. Different from other famous, discouragingly spacious gardens in Japan, it's comfortably small and good for a casual stroll all year round.
When I visit famous gardens in Japan, I often feel they are beautiful but also too artificial. This garden is different. Although it's well maintained by human hands, its beauty is more 'natural'. When visiting, don't forget to drop by Osensui Park and Fukui City History Museum as well. They are just a stone's thrown away from the park.
Getting there
Yokokan Garden is a 15-minute-walk away from JR Fukui Station.
