During a Golden Week Holiday in May, I visited Nishiyama Park in Sabae City, Fukui, to see the illuminated azaleas at night. When I arrived just after 6 PM, the famous 50,000 azaleas in the park were bathed in light from the setting sun.
This park is spread over small hills which were entirely covered with azaleas in full bloom. When I climbed to the top of the hills and looked toward west, I saw a big orange sun setting over mountains in the distance. That's when I realized that this park was not only good for enjoying flowers, but also was a great spot for viewing sunset. I forgot about night-time illumination for a while and solely focused on capturing sunset with my camera. It was so dramatic!
