Hanahasu Koen (Lotus Park) in Southern Echizen, Fukui, is HUGE! Not only does it have several ponds inside the park, but it also has a vast lotus field in front of it. Some of the lotus flowers there are taller than I am, and most of the photos in this story were taken underneath tall lotus leaves. Since they are all in a lotus field, not in a pond, you can get really close to them and peek inside the maze of lotus stems. It was as though I was playing hide-and-seek with millions of lotus flowers. I totally lost track of time and like a child kept playing with them, and it was fantastic!
