In Chiba Prefecture's Minamiboso area, particularly in the direction of Tateyama, not many foreign tourists have visited yet. The view of the sunset behind Mt. Fuji, visible across the sea, is breathtaking. Being close to the ocean, the seafood is delicious, and there are many ancient temples and shrines to explore.

Strangely, there are hardly any foreign tourists around, giving it a hidden gem feel.

From Tokyo, it's about a two-hour bus ride. Once in Tateyama or Minamiboso, transportation options include renting bicycles or taking a taxi.

Accommodations range from luxurious tourist hotels with elaborate meals to traditional Japanese-style inns that have been around for centuries. However, the business hotel near the station where I stayed this time was simple, convenient, and great because I could easily visit the izakayas around the station.

  • One minute walk from the station
  • Convenient with a nearby convenience store
  • Staff speak English
  • Rooms are simple and clean
  • No large communal bath, but each room has a spacious bathtub
  • Ocean view from upper floor rooms
  • On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji
  • Many izakayas and restaurants around the hotel
  • Few foreign tourists

I love traveling, especially to Latin America and the Arab world. Of course, I also enjoy traveling within Japan.
