The annual ranking highlights the finest stays from around the world, chosen by travel experts and industry insiders.
Japan's top performer was the Bulgari Hotel Tokyo (often stylized as Bvlgari), which landed at No. 15 on the list. Located near Tokyo Station, the property opened in 2023 and quickly gained attention for its sleek Italian design and panoramic views of the city skyline, as well as its Michelin-starred dining and spa experiences.
Next up was Aman Tokyo at No. 25, known for its minimalist Japanese aesthetic and tranquil atmosphere high above the Otemachi Tower. Blending traditional ryokan-inspired touches with modern luxury, Aman Tokyo has long been a favorite among international visitors seeking calm in the capital.
At No. 37 was Janu Tokyo, Aman's sister brand that opened in 2024. It offers a more social and energetic take on luxury, combining contemporary design with community-focused experiences and one of Tokyo's largest wellness complexes.
The Tokyo Edition Toranomon came in at No. 45. With its sophisticated interiors by architect Kengo Kuma and its reputation for cosmopolitan nightlife, the hotel represents the new wave of modern hospitality in Japan's capital.
Finally, Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto rounded out Japan's entries at No. 46. Set beside Nijo Castle, the hotel blends Kyoto's rich cultural heritage with understated luxury, including natural hot spring baths and a focus on traditional craftsmanship.
If you're looking for an extra-special place to stay during your Japan travels, it's hard to go wrong with one of these globally recognized options. They not only set the standard for luxury but also showcase the creativity, precision, and care that define modern Japanese hospitality.
