Each year during spring, Akita's Senshu Park is filled with color when over 700 cherry trees begin to bloom. The park was built at the site of the Kubota Castle Ruins, and was named as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom viewing spots back in 1990.

As is the case with all flower festivals, the dates of the event can be subject to change depending on blooming conditions. Keep your eye on the official event website for updates.

Getting there

Akita's Senshu Park can be accessed in under ten minutes on foot from the JR Akita Station, which is served by the Akita Shinkansen, the Ou Main Line, the Uetsu Main Line and the Oga Line. For those who plan to drive to the venue, there are numerous parking lots in the area.
