Rose fan? The annual Odate Rose Festival takes place at the Ishida Rose Garden in Akita, and the event showcases around 500 different types of these beautiful flowers for visitors to enjoy. Along with the spectacular blooms to admire, there will be rose flavored sweets and rose saplings available for purchase, and an evening illumination event.

Best of all, entrance to the event is completely free, but do bring some yen if you plan on making a purchase.

Getting there

The Odate Rose Festival takes place at the Ishida Rose Garden, which is located around 30 minutes on foot or a 10 minute bus ride from Odate Station (served by the Ōu Main Line and the Hanawa Line). If you are walking, the Higashi-Odate Station is a better option as it's only around 15 minutes on foot (Hanawa Line).

For those who opt to drive to the event, the venue is around 10 minutes from the Odate Kita IC on the Akita Expressway. On-site parking is available.
