Ghibli Park is gearing up for a vibrant spring season with a range of exciting events taking place from March through April. If you're planning to visit during this period, these are some of the unique ways you can engage with the world of Studio Ghibli.
One of the first special events happening on March 16th is the Witch's Valley First Anniversary Marching Band Performance. The Toho High School Marching Band from Nagoya will perform a lively parade through Witch’s Valley, an area inspired by European-style streets seen in films like Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Earwig and the Witch.
From March 21st to 23rd, the Sound World of Ghibli Park returns for a spring edition. By wearing special headphones, visitors can listen to music and sound effects that are integrated with the park’s scenic areas, enriching their stroll through Witch’s Valley, Mononoke Village, and other parts of the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. This event, which was well-received in the fall, invites guests to experience Ghibli through sound as they walk through the park. Advance application is required, and you don’t need a park ticket to participate.
For those interested in hands-on experiences, March 29th and 30th offer a Pottery Experience at Mononoke Village. Set in a rural, woodland setting inspired by Princess Mononoke, this event lets visitors create their own original ceramics using Seto clay, famous in the pottery-rich region of Aichi Prefecture. This event also requires advance registration and is available to elementary school students and older.
On April 5th and 6th, families can join in a fun and creative activity with the Mini Broom Making Experience in Witch’s Valley. This hands-on event invites parents and children to craft small brooms made from kochia, the plant featured in Kiki's Delivery Service. The experience is open to elementary school students and their guardians, with advance registration required.
Finally, on April 13th, the Wind Music Festival will bring a musical celebration to the park. Various performers will bring the world of Ghibli to life with live renditions of songs and music from Ghibli films. Expect to hear memorable tunes performed by artists like Ann Sally, Kitri, and Eureka Quartet, in locations throughout the park. The festival will include performances in Witch’s Valley, at the West Gate Information Center, and other scenic spots, allowing visitors to wander and enjoy the music in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Please note that tickets for Ghibli Park require a reservation, with tickets going on sale at 14:00 Japan Standard Time (JST) on the 10th of the month. Please see here for information on ticket types and prices.
