Train enthusiasts, history buffs and children will love the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in Nagoya.
The museum charts the development of Japan’s railway industry from as far back as the early 1900s and highlights how railway has transformed the Japanese culture and lifestyle.
The museum showcases trains including steam locomotives which “blew” world records at 129 km/h, electric and diesel railcars, and all the Shinkansens (bullet trains) from their inception. If you fancy feeling like a train driver, you can try out the simulators for the Shinkansen and local trains for small fees.
The Greatest Railway Diorama Room is one of the main features of the museum, and presents a day in the life of the Tokaido Shinkansen. The Osaka/Nagoya/Tokyo cityscapes have been meticulously replicated to present a scene that bursts with life.
If ever you are in Nagoya, you should check out this museum – you will love it and your kids will love you for it too!
