A traditional Japanese autumn custom gets a digital makeover at Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, where visitors can experience Tsukimi in the Sky, an immersive moon-viewing event combining projection mapping with views across Nagoya.
Tsukimi, or moon viewing, is a traditional Japanese custom of appreciating the autumn full moon, often accompanied by seasonal plants, decorations, and foods. Here, that atmosphere is recreated high above the city at the tower’s 90-meter-high indoor Sky Deck.
Running from September 14 to November 15, the experience transforms the observation deck windows into a changing autumn landscape. Lush greenery gradually takes on autumn colors before golden ginkgo leaves give way to pampas grass and a glowing full moon. The digital scenery is layered over Nagoya’s real nightscape, creating the impression of looking down on an autumn landscape from above.
There are also two new additions for 2026. In the interactive "Moonlit Autumn Creatures" experience, visitors can step into a designated area and encounter randomly appearing animals associated with autumn, including rabbits pounding mochi on the moon. Each visit can bring a different surprise.
Another new feature is "Tsukimi-soan," an area decorated with pampas grass and autumn wildflowers. Soft lighting, real plants, and projection mapping combine to create a miniature garden inspired by a moonlit autumn evening.
Tsukimi in the Sky is held in the evening, with opening times becoming earlier as autumn progresses. Admission is 1,800 yen for adults, 800 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschool-aged children.
